but it's not like there isn't a thousand other games about the Russians and the Americans and it gets boring and repetitive after a while.

What's surprising is that they were not included in an expansion for CoH1, and I assume the main reason is the existence of the Eastern Front mod.Don't get me wrong, I liked that the game was focused on the eastern front for once, I had always hoped they'd add the Russians to the first game and I adored the eastern front mod. Well, given that the Soviets are the main reason why the Allies won WW2, I would not say "blah blah Russian blah blah", tbh. Steam winter sale starts probably next week, so stay tunned. Then again, you could always check for franchise bundles, yesterday they had it at 50% at Humble Store, although I find 40€ too expensive even for everything. Apparently the problem is that most of CoH2 is not moddable yet, so expect it to be a long time before anything major happens, if anything happens. The engine is better and has more features (snow and stuff), so I wouldn't be surprised if people ported the old CoH mods to CoH2 (in fact, the modders (well, modder ^^) who made Blitzkrieg Mod, the only mod i honestly care about, are now working on making a CoH2 version ( ). Both games are dirt cheap in sales (CoH1 is already old and forgotten by the devs, and CoH2 was just not succesful).ĬoH2 does not have so many (neither so good) mods as CoH, but I imagine it will eventually get there. So maybe wait for deals and try for yourself, then judge what you prefer. I got a multiplayer enabled dlc (Heroes of the Western Front: Oberkommando West) in the last Humble Bundle very cheap, and it allows me to play just with that faction in multiplayer. I can't comment on CoH2's campaign, but I heard it's not as good as vanilla's. If you have friends to play, then Tales of Valor+Blitzkrieg mod will get you tons of enjoyment if you are a WW2 freak. That said, the multiplayer in CoH was very poorly developed (awful lobby, hackers, no reconnect after disconnections, frequent disconnections due to hackers, etc), and it's said to have been somewhat improved with CoH2. It also works for mods, and mods arethe best part about this game. You won't get decent, lengthy campaigns, but you will get all the content you need for multi (factions, modes, etc). If you just want it for multiplayer, then get Tales of Valor. Mmm, can't comment much on the second one, it definatelly feels like the same game (to me it's the soviet expansion that was never released for CoH 1), just a desperate move by THQ (RIP) to get some money.Īs for the first one, it depends, if you are interested in single player, I remember vanilla's campaign being trully great.
