When you can ping but cannot get DNS resolution, have you tried pinging the DNS server? This may not help you, but there is a strange situation with Cisco devices that I have run across. I would also try turning off the Windows firewall completely. This way the only connection you have is the wired and there can't be any strange prioritization or anything going on.
